Boggle word search game review
Other than Monopoly, what other games do you play? Well, besides Monopoly, I play Boggle. Boggle is a popular word search game whereby you shake a plastic box full of cubes embossed with letters on it and you try to search words on it either in a straight, diagonal, horizontal or vertical line. It is a relatively easy or difficult game depending on your English skills and it's cheap to buy. Now do note that the Boggle that I have now is actually the older version not the latest one. The latest Boggle game has a hourglass, a plastic box with letter cubes on them which is significantly smaller than the one that I have and it has a new modern box design and logo. Old or new, it is still a very fun game to play with. Read on further if you want to know more about it in this review.
How to play?
First of all, you need to shake all the letter cubes in the plastic box. Try not to shake it too hard as it will rattle and it hurts hearing that rattling of the letter cubes. Also, if you shake the cubes, you will get totally different words than the last game you played. If you intend to cheat and not shake the letter cubes, that's not my problem. Anyway, after you have done the shaking, you will need to turn the hourglass over to start the game. Oh and one more thing, make sure you get a piece of paper, a pen and a dictionary as they don't come with it right out of the box. Inconvenient? Yes.
Once you are done with the shaking, open up the plastic box and turn the hourglass over and start your word search right away. Don't forget there are rules on how you can find the words in the game. You have to find letters up, down, sideways and diagonally. You must make sure that it is a straight line. Each time, you turn over the hourglass, it will be 3 mins long.
Is it fun?
It is definitely fun. In 3 minutes, you have to find as much words as you can. You must make sure that the word has at least 3 letters or more. No one letter word such as I is allowed. Also, two letter words such as IT also does not count. If you can find 3 letters minimum in a word, that is considered. For me, since I don't really have a wide vocabulary, most of the time I find 3 letter words. 3 letter words will not really cost you that much points. So if you are playing the game, make sure that you at least 4 letters in words. Okay maybe 3 letters can also be considered. If you can find a word, write it down and you get points. Even if the points are little for each word, it will all add up.
Once 3 mins is up, you will need to have a dictionary or an English genius to check all of your words to see if they're correct or wrong. You can't just add points like that without any knowledge of the word you have just found. Once you know the definitions of all the words in your list, you can add up the points according to the Boggle point system and compare your score with your other friend's scores.
Conclusion
All in all, Boggle is a very fun game. Great for both children and adults and not to mention teenagers. Boggle is a simple but challenging word search game that teaches you English and such. So, not only is it a fun game, it is also an educational game. It's small, portable and easy to carry around. But please do not play Boggle during a road trip or not you will drop all the letter cubes on the floor. And believe me, it ain't easy to find all the letter cubes when they are scattered around.

Pricing and availability
Boggle is priced moderately at SGD$19.90 at all department stores, toy stores and board game shops in Singapore. The last time I bought this game, it was priced at this particular price. So the price may vary. If you can't find Boggle, you can find it online at Amazon.com or Hasbro.com. Although you may need to pay extra shipping fees if you don't live in America. Don't forget to check out other variants of Boggle which includes, Boggle Twist and Shake, the online Boggle Bash and the Boggle iPhone application. This review is only applicable to the tradtional Boggle game and not the variants. Check out below to see more pictures of the game.
